Cork, Ireland and the Blarney Stone

Image
A two-fer today.   Our day will begin with a trip to Blarney Castle. And the Stone.   Later this evening we visit the Jameson distillery for a wee bit of spirits.   It is Ireland, after all. As we pull into Cork Bay, it is easy to see why they are called the “Emerald Isle”.   Under grey skies, we slowly drift between luscious banks.   The variety of plants is impressive. The bus ride today is short by comparison; just under an hour.   We drive through a lovely countryside and quaint villages, finally arriving in Blarney. Counting down ....

Today is exactly 120 days before we board Serenade of the Seas to begin our excellent adventure.  There is nothing special about this post ... in fact, we are posting just so that we can figure this thing out before we go aboard. So ... what are we doing?!?!  On September 30 I will retire from 32 years in financial planning, 28 of them with Quest Capital Management.  This follows a 26 year career in the Marines.  50+ years is enough work ... now is time for serious play. So ...... we insanely signed up for a 274 day, 60 country cruise with Royal Caribbean. We will fly out from DFW to MIA on December 8th (yes!  my birthday!), have a blowout party on December 9th for those "Full cruisers" (those insane enough to sign up for the entire cruise) and set sail on December 10th.  We don't return to Miami until Sep...
